Objectives

  1. Edit the scenario, screen sequence diagram and create the second prototype of your assignment.
  2. Carry out the user testing of your assignment with at least three test subjects.

Introduction

We will edit scenarios, SSQ and create the second prototype of your user interface based on the results from the first user testing. Afterwards we will conduct second user testing with the edited prototype and summarize the results

This lecture is meant for consulting about results of the first user testing and their interpretation.

Instructions

  1. Task: Incorporate results of the first user testing to edit the first scenario and SSQ.

Note: Changes in scenario and SSQ need to be marked with color or they should be written at the end of the file.

Task: Create the second prototype of the user interface based on the feedback from the first testing.

Note: Most common mistakes, tips and tricks are presented by UXMatters.com [1] .

  2. Task: Prepare materials for second user testing in the same way as in lecture 9.

Use the changed scenario for preparing the materials for the participants of second user testing.

Important! In the second testing it is needed to focus on:
    • In preparation:
      • Find users that are closest to the target domain, use the least amount of students.
    • Before testing with a participant:
      • Introduce the problem to the participant, for example: "Imagine that you are ... and you need ..."
      • Explain the work process, what is the purpose of the prototype, how it should work.
      • Give the most generic tasks to the users. They don't even have to consist of steps. We can test the user interface for discoverability if the participant is not presented with every step he/she needs to do.
    • During testing:
      • Find out why wasn't the participant able to complete given task.
Task: Fill up the form for recording the user testing. [3].
  3. Task: Execute second user testing of your assignment with at least three test subjects. Measure the time needed to finish each scenario for each participant. Record the results in the prepared form.

Note: Each participant from the secound testing should either be a domain expert or the target user. Try to use as least classmates as possible. Each participant should match the persona.

Task: Use SUS to evaluate your system [4]. Use the questionaire from the previous user testing.
